Chris Rock Stars In His Own Directed and Written Film TOP FIVE
November 6th, 2014
With famous roles in Madagascar and Grown Ups, not too many people still know that comedian & actor Chris Rock is also a director, producer, and writer. Some of the films he’s directed, produced, and written include Head of State and I Think I Love My Wife, both of which he’s also starred in, and now his written & directed film Top Five. According to IMDb, Top Five focuses on a comedian who tries to make it as a serious actor when his reality TV star fiancé talks him into broadcasting their wedding on her TV show. Released on December 12th, the film stars Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Gabrielle Union (Bad Boys II), Kevin Hart (Think Like A Man), Tracy Morgan (Cop Out), J.B. Smoove (Real Husbands of Hollywood), Whoopi Goldberg (Boys on The Side), Sherri Shepherd (Precious), Romany Malco (The 40 Year Old Virgin), Hayley Marie Norman (Fired Up), Jerry Seinfeld (Seinfeld), Ben Vereen (Idlewild), and Adam Sandler (Grown Ups 2).
Recently, the trailer for Top Five was released and it honestly looks like such a great film. I really enjoy the storyline of Rock playing a comedian who ends up engaged to a reality TV star who wants to film their wedding for TV since reality TV stars are quickly taking over the entertainment world. As expected, Rock will be as funny as always. Union is just a phenomenal actress who is currently doing an amazing job on BET’s Being Mary Jane and it looks like she’s going to do just as great in Top Five. With Dawson starring in one of my favorite comedic films, Clerks II, I have a feeling she will be just as funny, if not funnier, in Top Five. Hart is just too funny to handle and Cedric the Entertainer is always going to bring laughter to a film, as will Morgan. The other actors as though they’ll be just as magnificent and I honestly cannot wait to see Top Five. Be sure to catch Top Five when it hits theaters on December 12th.
