The year 2014 had its share of successful horror films that scared its audiences, such as Annabelle and As Above, So Below. While 2015 has only recently begun, there seems to be some promising upcoming horror films to frighten moviegoers and one of them is The Lazarus Effect.

Directed by David Belb, The Lazarus Effect follows a group of researchers led by Frank and his fiancé Zoe who’ve achieved the unimaginable – bringing the dead back to life. After a successful, yet unsanctioned, trial on a newly deceased animal, the team is ready to unveil their breakthrough to the world. When the dean of their university learns of their underground experiments, their project is unexpectedly shut down and their materials confiscated. Frank, Zoe and their team take matters into their own hands, launching a rogue attempt to recreate their experiment, during which things go terribly wrong and one of their own, Zoe is horrifically killed. Fueled by terror and grief, Frank pushes them to do the unthinkable: attempt to resurrect their first human test subject. Initially, the procedure appears a success, but the team soon realizes something is wrong with Zoe. As her strange new persona reveals itself, the team quickly becomes stuck in a gruesome reality.

Hitting theaters on February 27th, The Lazarus Effect stars Olivia Wilde(In Time), Mark Duplass(People Like Us), Evan Peters(American Horror Story), Sarah Bolger(The Spiderwick Chronicles), and Donald Glover(Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day), who is also known as rapper Childish Gambino. A new trailer was just released for the film and being a horror movie fan, I am extremely excited to see the film.

Wilde has always been a great actress to me ever since her performance in In Time. While I am a fan of his music, Glover is definitely as great of an actor as he is a rapper. His performance in HBO’s Girls and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was fantastic and proves that his acting career will soar. As a fan of American Horror Story, I’m excited to see Peters in The Lazarus Effect. I’m sure that he’ll give this role as much heart and soul as he gives to his roles in American Horror Story. The rest of the cast seem like they will help make this film as scary as possible. Check out the trailer to The Lazarus Effect below and be sure to see the film when it hits movie theaters on February 27th.
